Explanation
IO downstream from a PCI Host Bridge (PHB) has been experiencing recoverable errors in a volume which exceeds an expected threshold.
Response
No immediate action is necessary. There are two repair actions recommended prior to replacing hardware identified by the FRU list. At the earliest convenient time or service window complete the following actions. If performing these repair actions resolves the problem, there is no need to consider the additional FRUs in the FRU list. If the same SRC is logged again as a serviceable event identifying the same location code after these repair actions have been completed, continue to the additional FRUs in the FRU list.
If you have recently completed the first of these actions for the failing FRU, continue to the second action. If you have recently completed both of these actions for the failing FRU, continue to the next item in the FRU list.
1. Reseat the IO adapter(s) at the location provided for the failing FRU.
This will require a system power down for FRUs which are not hot-pluggable PCI adapters.
If there is no location information provided, continue to the FRU list.
If the location provided is for a single embedded or PCI adapter location, reseat the adapter at that location.
If the location provided is for a FRU with multiple adapters plugged into it, such as an IO backplane, reseat each of the adapters plugged into the FRU at the location code provided.
2. Update the firmware on the adapter.
If the location provided is for a single embedded or PCI adapter location, check for adapter firmware updates. Apply the update if one is available.
If the location provided is for a FRU with multiple adapters plugged into it, check for adapter firmware updates for each of the adapters plugged into the FRU at the location code provided. Apply the updates if any are available.
