Section-9, Installing the rails for the management enclosure

About this task

Note: Read and understand all steps in this section before starting step 1.

Procedure

  1. Locate the management enclosure rail kit (P/N 69Y5085) in Box 4 of 10.
    1. The kit contains two screws (PN 5288) use to fasten the front of the rails.
  2. Prepare the left rail.
    1. The front of the rail is marked with an L (left).
    2. At the front of the rail, push up on the locking tab Callout label 1, and pull out the front latch Callout label 2. See Figure 1.
    3. At the rear of the rail, remove the screw Callout label 3 for reuse. See Figure 1.

  3. Install the left rail directly above the upper UPS (E61).
    1. At the rear of the rack, press and hold the rail silver lever (white arrow) forward. See Figure 2.
    2. Place the two pins at the rear of the rail into rack holes Callout label 1 and Callout label 3. Then, lower the rail down to engage the hook feature on the top pin. See Figure 2, Figure 3, and Figure 4.
    3. Reinstall the black screw Callout label 3 to the rear of the rail. See Figure 3.

  4. Install the front of the rail.
    1. Ensure that the rail front latch Callout label 2 is still pulled open. See Figure 1.
    2. Pull the rail forward and insert the two pins into rack rail holes 1 and 2. See Figure 5.
    3. Lower the rail down to engage the hook feature on the rail middle pin. Note that this is similar to rear of rail.
    4. Grab the front section of the rail and pull it forward. At the same time push the front latch in. See Figure 5.

    5. Test that the front of the rail is secure. Reach inside the rack, grab the front section and attempt to move it to the back. It should not move.
    6. Install a screw as shown in the white circle. See Figure 6.

  5. At the front of the rack, install a nut clip above each rail. See Figure 7.
    Note: The nut clip is for the management enclosure thumbscrew.
    1. The nut clips are located in Box 1 of 10.
    2. Nut clips for racks with round holes (P/N 74F1823) and square holes (P/N 45W1406).

  6. Repeat this procedure to install the right rail.
