Section-6, Installing the 4U rails for the UPS (E61 and E62)

Procedure

  1. Locate the UPS rail kit (P/N 02AN588) in Box 1 of 10. See Figure 1.
    The rail kit contains:
    • (2) 4U rails (left and right)
    • (2) black cable tie bars (full width), taped to rail
    • (2) UPS mainline power cable retention brackets and square hole nut clips (in plastic bag)
    • (1) Plastic bag with black hook-and-loop ties
    • (1) Bag with screws for front and rear

  2. If the customer rack rails have square holes, do the following:
    1. There are two diameters of rail locating pins. Smaller diameter for round hole racks. Larger diameter for square hole racks.
    2. All Model 983 rails that use locating pins are pre-installed with smaller diameter locating pins for round hole racks.
    3. Unscrew the smaller diameter locating pins for round hole racks and replace with the larger diameter locating pins for square hole racks. See Figure 2.

  3. Install the right 4U rail in the rack.
    1. Locate the rail embossed with Front Right.
    2. The rail is installed at the bottom of the 16U rack space.
    3. Extend the 4U rail to contact the inside of the front and rear rack rails.
    4. IMPORTANT: Align the bottom threaded hole of the 4U rail with rack rail Hole 2 (white arrow). See the following figure. DO NOT use Hole 1.
    5. Fasten the rear with two screws (white arrow and black arrow). See Figure 3.
    6. Fasten the front with two screws in the same hole positions.

  4. Repeat the process to install the left 4U rail.
