MAP1140 DS Storage Manager server, displaying the state, start, and stop

About this task

The DS storage manager server runs on the management console (HMC) and is the GUI interface to the ESSNI server that also runs on the HMC. The ESSNI is the low level interface that allows the customer to manage the storage. There are two methods for the customer to communicate with ESSNI:
  • DS Storage Manager (also known as ICAT), the IBM® graphical user interface.
  • DS CLI, which is the command-line interface that the customer can use to create their own scripts.

Procedure

Display the state, start and stop status of the DS storage manager server that runs on the management console (HMC).
  1. From the navigation area, click HMC Management.
  2. In the right work area, go to the Storage Server HMC Tasks section and click Start/Stop DS Storage Manager.
  3. The current state and the start/stop options are displayed.
