MAP20C0 PPS current sharing fault

A current sharing fault has been reported for one or more primary power supply (PPS) power boundaries.

About this task

A current sharing fault occurs when multiple power supplies provide power for the same load and one of the power supplies is not providing a reasonable share of the current to the load. The power boundaries that do current sharing are as follows:
  • Main 5/12V DDM power module for both PPS
  • Optional 5/12V DDM power module for both PPS
  • Main 208 VDC module for both PPS
  • Optional 208 VDC module for both PPS
A current sharing fault can be caused by a failure in the power supply but can also be the result of the supply being disconnected from the load.

Procedure

  1. Determine the location of the failing primary power supply (PPS) output module by using the location code listed in the problem FRU list.
  2. Check that the cable from the PPS output module to the bus bar is properly connected. Is the cable properly connected?
    • Yes, the PPS module is failing. Go to the next step.
    • No, return to the repair screen that sent you here and use the FRU replace procedure for the PPS module to reconnect, repair, or replace the cable.
  3. Return to the repair screen that sent you here to replace the PPS module.
