MAP2170 RPC card local/remote switch setting will not change

When the local remote switch card switch setting changes, it causes each RPC to set interrupts for the management console and the storage facility image LPARs. When the switch setting being reported by the two RPCs disagrees, the management console will create a serviceable event and then fence the RPC that is reporting a switch change.

About this task

This MAP is required when the Local / Remote switch setting is changed and that change is not reflected in an interrupt to the management console from either RPC card. The signal to each RPC is provided by independent switch contacts. When the switch is opened, the +Local signal to each RPC is pulled up at the RPC. Therefore, Local becomes the default setting if the RPC card to local remote switch card cables are disconnected. The +Local signals to both RPC cards only come together at the switch on the LR/ZLR logic card so a failure of the switch or the card will be the cause of this failure.
