MAP2530 Power repair stopped with SFI incomplete status

A repair of a rack power system serviceable event could not successfully start because the power repair process in the HMC received storage facility image (SFI) incomplete status from the power controlling SFI. The HMC power repair process uses the power controlling SFI to access the RPC cards to control and test the rack power system. In special repair cases, if the SFI is in power off state (both CEC complexes are in service processor/FSP power off state), the HMC power repair process can bypass the SFI and directly access the RPC cards to control and test the rack power system.

MAP2530 Section-1

Procedure

  1. Choose the description that applies:
    • Attempting a power system repair on a storage facility that is fully installed, go to step 2.
    • Attempting a power system repair on a storage facility that is being installed, go to step 3.
  2. The power-controlling storage facility image (SFI) is giving incomplete status to the HMC power repair process. The SFI must be brought back to normal operation. There should be one or more serviceable events for the CEC enclosures or I/O enclosures related to the SFI problem.

Are there related serviceable events for the SFI?

    • Yes, exit this MAP and repair those serviceable events first. After the SFI is back to normal operation, repair the original rack power system serviceable event that sent you here.
    • No, contact your next level of support.
  3. Select the type of installation that is in progress:
    • Non-concurrent installation (the entire storage facility was in a powered off state and then powered on prior to the error occurring that sent you to this MAP), go to step 4.
    • Concurrent installation (the storage facility remained powered on during the installation), go to step 2.
  4. The storage facility must be powered off so both CEC complexes are in service processor/FSP power off state. This will allow the HMC power repair process to bypass the SFI and directly access the RPC cards to control and test the rack power system.
    1. From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility.
    2. From the bottom Task area, click Service Utilities > Storage Facility Power Control.
    3. Ensure that the Power Control Mode is set to Manual Power Mode.
    4. Change the Storage Facility Power State to Power OFF Storage Facility. Click OK. A confirmation dialog box is displayed.
    5. Click Yes to power off the storage facility.
  5. Return to the serviceable event that sent you here and attempt the repair again.

    Was the repair successful?

    • Yes, go to step 6.
    • No, contact your next level of support.
  6. The non-concurrent installation needs to be completed. Contact your next level of support who needs to check the installed state of the storage facility to determine how to continue the installation.
