MAP32B0 SRC BE340086/BE340087/BE340088 FC-AL cable check detected cable problem at a device adapter card
Use this MAP to determine the FC-AL problem.

MAP32B0 Section-1
Procedure
- The I/O enclosure device adapter card is reporting a problem
with one or more FC-AL cables. The problem cable may have a visual
problem; unplugged, partially plugged or physically damaged or other
problem such as an internal failure. The device adapter card is listed
in the serviceable event FRU list. See Figure 1, Figure 2, and Figure 3.
Inspect the FC-AL cables. Did you find a visible problem?
- Yes, go to the next step.
- No, if the failing FC-AL cables are listed in the FRU list, go to the next step to replace that cable. If no cable is listed, contact your next level of support.

- Use the normal FRU exchange process to do a pseudo repair
of the I/O enclosure device adapter card in the FRU list. Do not replace
the I/O enclosure device adapter card when instructed by the repair
process. Instead, correct the cable or cables that are not connected
correctly and then continue with normal repair process.
- Read all of the following substeps before you continue to the next substep. To view this MAP in a separate information center window, click Help in the upper right corner of the main HMC GUI screen and navigate to MAP32B0.
- Click Close in the current service information center window.
- One or more HMC repair screens might prompt you for the result of using the service procedure in the MAP. Select Problem not fixed.
- Select No when prompted for whether you exchanged any parts.
- Select Yes when prompted for whether you isolated the problem.
- Select the I/O Enclosure Device Adapter Card from the FRU list. The HMC begins the FRU exchange process for the selected FRU.
- If the pseudo repair does not fix the problem, contact your next level of support.
