MAP47B0 NVS Mismatch

A mismatch between the NVS function in the two LPARs for the storage facility image has been detected. The NVS function is provided by the main system memory that is not needed for the AIX operating system and function code. The memory system memory resides on CEC enclosure, system processor card memory DIMMs. Normally this error is caused when some of the memory in one CEC enclosure is no longer available for use, or if there is a mismatch of functional code levels between the two LPARs and NVS contains modified data.

About this task

If SRC=BE1E2053, proceed to MAP47B0 Section-2. For all other SRCs, continue with MAP47B0 Section-1.

MAP47B0 Section-1

Procedure

  1. Display and repair any related serviceable event (SE) for the failing CEC enclosure. A related SE would most likely have one of the following FRUs listed:
    • System processor card
    • Memory DIMM or CDIMM
    • System processor backplane assembly
(Reference MAP1210 Displaying and repairing a serviceable event.)

If there is no related SE to repair, perform the following steps.

  2. Display the memory details for the server (CEC enclosure) for the serviceable event that sent you here. Look for differences between the two servers and then go to the next step.
    1. From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Server View > server.
    2. From the bottom Task area, click Properties. A window opens and displays several information tabs.
    3. Select the Memory tab.
  3. Display the memory details for each logical partition (LPAR) for the storage facility image (SFI) serviceable event that sent you here. Look for differences between the two LPARs and then go to the next step.
    1. From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Server View > server.
    2. Select the partition (SFxxxxxxxESS0x).
    3. From the bottom Task area, click Properties. A window opens and displays several information tabs.
    4. Select the Hardware tab and then select Processors and Memory.
  4. Select the action that applies:
    • If differences were found in steps 2 or 3, there should be an open serviceable event. Display serviceable event in the closed state to ensure it was not accidentally closed without being repaired. If there are no serviceable events, contact your next level of support.
    • If no differences were found, this might be a false serviceable event. Contact your next level of support.

Procedure

  1. Two possible recovery solutions for this error condition exist:
    • Backleveling the functional code on the LPAR is presenting this error to the level of code of the partner LPAR.
    • Having field support run the CST utility on both LPARs of the storage facility image.
  2. Contact your next level of support for specific guidance. Failure to do so may cause unnecessary customer data loss.
