PWR1909

A power supply load fault is occurring in an I/O enclosure.

PWR1909 Section-1

About this task

An I/O enclosure is reporting an overcurrent fault which is detected by the power supplies. Even though it is likely that only one FRU is causing the problem, the actual failing FRU is not known. Because it can take about one hour to replace a FRU, it would take too much time to replace each possible FRU one at a time. Because this error condition is so rare, you are directed to replace all possible FRUs in the I/O enclosure at the same time. The FRUs to be replaced are:
  • I/O enclosure backplane assembly
  • Device adapter cards
  • Host adapter cards
  • I/O enclosure RIO card
  • I/O enclosure power supplies
  • I/O enclosure fan (assembly)

Procedure

  1. From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility.
  2. From the bottom Task area, click Exchange Parts. Select the exchange option that contains the FRU to be exchanged. A window opens and displays the enclosures.
  3. Select an I/O enclosure, and then click Show FRUs. A list of FRUs in the selected I/O enclosure is displayed.
  4. Select the IO Enclosure Backplane.
Note: In the next step, you will start the exchange process for the I/O enclosure backplane. The service information center will guide you to Exchange the I/O enclosure backplane assembly. In the "Install the I/O enclosure backplane" steps, it will instruct you to install the following FRUs. Use new parts for these FRUs.
    • The device and host adapter cards
    • The I/O enclosure RIO card
    • The I/O enclosure power supplies
    • The I/O enclosure fan (assembly)
  5. Click Exchange FRU. Let the exchange process run and complete the exchange for the FRUs above. When the exchange process ends, return here.
  6. Was the repair successful?
    • Yes, problem is resolved. Close the problems that sent you here.
    • No, problem is not fixed. Call your next level of support.

What to do next

This ends the procedure.
