Connecting the mainline power cables (wired)

Before you begin

DANGER
An electrical outlet that is not correctly wired could place hazardous voltage on the metal parts of the system or the devices that attach to the system. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the outlet is correctly wired and grounded to prevent an electrical shock. (D004)

Procedure

  1. Switch the customer circuit breaker to Off for the mainline power cables.
  2. Attention: Use lockout and tagout procedures as defined in the Electrical Safety for IBM® Customer Engineers.
  3. Verify the CB1 main line switch at the rear of each DC-UPS is set to Off (down).
  4. Confirm that each mainline power cable is not powered before connecting it.
  5. Connect each storage facility mainline power cable connector to the DC-UPS. Twist the lock ring clockwise (single-phase) or pull the connector handles toward you (three-phase) to secure the connector.
  6. For racks with single-phase DC-UPS, secure the power cable bracket and safety cover (if present) on each mainline power cable. See Figure 1.
    1. Tighten the screws  1  to secure the bracket to the frame
    2. Install the cover  3  (if present) and secure with screw  2 .
