Verifying the storage facility

Procedure

  1. Return to the HMC screen that sent you back to these instructions. The following screen displays: 
    Return to the MES or installation instructions to install the expansion rack.


When the MES or installation instructions send you back here,
click Next to continue.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Wait a maximum of 1 hour 45 minutes (1:45) for a series of status screens to be displayed. Does the HMC display the following message?
    The installation is now complete. Return to the MES or installation instructions.
    • Yes. The verify process has successfully completed. Click Next and go to the next step.
    • No. If the verify process does not complete successfully and an exception screen is displayed, call the next level of support.
    Note: The installation process will normally complete and display this message within 25 minutes. However, if the expansion rack DC-UPS DC supply unit firmware level is lower than that of the existing rack(s), the installation process will automatically update the expansion rack DC-UPS firmware. This process adds up to 1 hour and 20 minutes (1:20) to the installation. During a DC-UPS firmware update, abnormal DC-UPS LED status codes are expected. Do not reboot the HMC or recycle DC-UPS power during this update. Allow the update to complete, and wait for the installation complete message.
  4. View the storage facility status (end of call). If any of the system check results display as FAILED, view the details and refer to MAP1100 View storage facility state (end of call) Before you continue the installation, all status fields should display as PASSED.
