MAP0050 SCSI bus problems

Use this MAP to analyze problems with a SCSI bus.

Before you begin

All storage facility repair activity should be started from Start here. If you have not started from that procedure, go there now and start from the section Analyze and repair problems. If you did start from that section and the analysis procedures produced an SRN, follow the steps below.

Repair actions must always be managed from the management console. To replace any FRU(s) identified in this procedure, use Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Exchange Parts. If the FRU(s) are listed in the Serviceable Event, select them from there.

Before starting the following procedure, repair any serviceable events for CEC enclosure power problems.

Procedure

  1. Is the disk drive backplane assembly securely plugged into the CEC enclosure I/O backplane assembly?
    • Yes, go to 2.
    • No, use Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Exchange Parts to remove and replace the disk drive enclosure. If the problem persists, go to 2.
  2. Is more than one CEC disk drive failing?
    Note: Use any location code information that may be displayed or provided with the error code. If none is provided, there may be information in the hardware error logs that is accessible by the next level of support.
    • Yes, go to step 4.
    • No, go to step 3.
  3. Replace the failing CEC disk drive. Is the problem resolved?
  4. Replace the disk drive backplane assembly that contains the failing disk drive. Is the problem resolved?
  5. Replace the CEC enclosure I/O backplane assembly that the disk drive enclosure is connected to. Is the problem resolved?
